13th Health Libraries Inc. Conference
State Library of Victoria, Melbourne
Friday 21 October 2016
"The (In)visible Library"
We are excited to be able to invite you to join us for our 13th Health Libraries Inc Conference on 21st October 2016. Our theme this year aims to inspire papers and posters related to making the library a core part of an organisation where services and resources may be invisibly embedded and/or the physical and visible space reduced. How are we keeping track of the impact on our organisation? Are we leading the way and contributing, initiating or collaborating on innovative projects? Has this lifted our profile? As always, library professionals are innovators, doing more with less. It is generally accepted that breaking out of our traditional service provision is a good thing, but what does this really look like in practice? What are the real costs and benefits to the parties involved? What is the difference between collaboration, cooperation and partnership? And what are the critical success factors? For this conference, we would like to see the scaffolding behind the culture shift.
Our Keynote Speaker this year is Dr Christopher Leung, Medical Lead, Clinical Education Unit, Clinical Supervisor and Academic Lead Scholarly Selective Program School of Medicine University of Melbourne, Gastroenterologist, Department of Gastroenterology Austin Health. Chris works with and uses the Austin Health Sciences Library across all his roles and will provide his perspective as a clinician, educator, researcher and author on how a library is quintessential in supporting these activities.
